Recently, while checking out a client’s house, we noticed that a door at the house next door was wide open. Because we are familiar with the neighborhood, we knew that this home was also unoccupied. We checked with the local letter carrier who stated that he had not seen the home owners in months. There were no vehicles in the driveway, so we called the police.
The police arrived and checked with us to determine what we did, or did not know. They checked the outside of the home and then went inside. After a search, it was determined that the door itself was faulty and had blown open in a recent wind. So, nothing nefarious happened this time. However, we cannot help but feel, that the homeowners are at another home somewhere else and will never know that we had their back.
